Understanding rib textures

Fine, wide and textured ribs: how they differ and when to use them.

Rib is a knit fabric with raised lengthwise lines. Because of this structure, rib usually stretches more widthwise, which makes it comfortable for garments that follow the body.

Fine rib

Tight, delicate lines. It looks neat and elegant, suited to crop tops, fitted dresses, culottes and everyday tops.

Wide rib

Wider lines make the texture more visible. It adds character to sweaters, long-sleeve tops and lounge sets.

Textured rib

Some ribs have a raised or 3D knit pattern. They suit sweaters and pieces where the fabric should stand out.

Thickness, composition and stretch differ for each rib. For a specific product, ask our admin for details before ordering.
